STAR1: The Grab ‘n Go Anywhere.
This is your “if you could only bring one on a 5-day trip” blazer. The one you could wear throughout the year, for work or play, or any occasion. Your styling friend that you can wear with jeans or any length skirt, or trousers, under a sweater, or over a dress. One that you can put a statement belt over, or roll up the sleeves and completely change the look. You get the idea.
It’s also one that won’t break the bank and won’t make you crumble if you spill coffee or champagne on yourself. I’m not gonna lie, this was hard to narrow down and I get that you may see it and go “Judy, it’s a black blazer….really?” But the devil’s in the details, and your hand when you feel it, and on you when you move. Here’s why it’s special:
year-round weight and fabric
has a classic fit which means it’s versatile. Cinch it w/a belt to tighten it. Layer it with a hoodie even. Wear it over short-shorts to provide some coverage.
it’s drapey so it moves - nicely
never wrinkly (gasp!)
single-button so it looks great buttoned or not
available in several colors. Start with black or dark night so you can pair it with anything.
oh, did I mention it has pockets? You’re welcome :)
STAR2: Pleather Perfect.
I love a pleather blazer. They look great with any fabric you wear with them and they punch above their weight for not only an elevated, luxe look but with your favorite ripped jeans or slip dress. Food or drinks spill on you? No prob, it’s easy to wipe away. Many are hand or machine-washable (just be sure to air dry). But can you wear pleather in warmer weather? 100% yes! Consider it your nicer than a cardigan layer and drape it over your shoulders.
Going to hop on a motorcycle, bike, or a scooter? Pleather is your go-to fabric. Wind’s not getting through it and water will just roll right off.
Does quality vary with pleather? ABSOLUTELY! From the hand-feel (buttery vs dry & stiff) to the weight. I personally have pleather pieces from Zara, Free People, Good American, Anthropologie and more. My fave pleather source? Good American. Their pleather feels oh-so-soft, and flexible, but substantial. Plus their size range is the most inclusive! This blazer comes in size XS-5XL.
Here’s the Good American Sculpted Blazer. $238.
STAR3: The Luxe but make it approachable.
This is the “hi, I’m here” blazer that people will look at - and look again. With an impeccable fit and special detailing that takes it from nice-to-have to must-have. This is an investment piece that will stand out in your closet and help you stand out.
Styling Tips:
Jeans: this versatile blazer goes really well with skinny jeans or super wide-leg jeans. Why? Because the nipped in waist creates a lean line with skinny-leg jeans or creates a nice contrast with wide-leg jeans.
Trousers: if you’re wearing pleated trousers, leaving the button open will create a smoother line.
Skirts: pencil skirt, flowy pleated skirt, bias-cut skirt will all work well with this.
Evening Look: dress it up with slim tuxedo pants, pleather/leather pants or a black silk skirt.
Tops: since this is fitted, opt for tops that hug like blouses, bodycon layering pieces, or slim sweaters. Embellished tops? YES! With this neckline, tops with ties, bows, ruffles, big collars will go fantastically.
Accessorizing: brooches will be great with this blazer.
